Suggested groups

Suggested groups…, under New and Delete, offers ready-made groups for programs you are likely to have:

BrowsersMicrosoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Brave
Text editorsNotepad, Notepad++, Visual Studio Code, Sublime Text
OfficeWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Built from this machine, not from a list

A member is a path, and no fixed path would be right: Chrome sits in a different place when installed for one user than for the whole machine, Office moves with its version, and Notepad++ may not be installed at all. So PerchBar looks each program up here and now — the registry's own record of where programs are, then the usual folders, then everything on your PATH — and offers only what it actually found. Programs it could not find are left out silently.

A group needs at least two of its programs present to be offered. One program is not a group.

They arrive disabled

Every suggested group is added with Enabled unticked, so nothing on your taskbar changes until you look at the group and turn it on. They are added to the dialog only — Cancel discards them, and nothing is written until you choose Apply or OK.

Members match by name

Each suggested member has Any folder ticked, because browsers and Office move between versioned folders on their own schedule and every name inside a suggested group is distinct — which is the condition that makes name matching safe.

A group you already have, by name, is never offered twice. If you have made your own Browsers, the suggestion is skipped.
